J-B Weld Plastic Repair Epoxy Putty (2 oz.)

Cracked plastic parts on a vehicle are frustrating because replacement panels can be expensive and hard to source, and regular adhesives often will not hold up on a flexible or stressed surface. J-B Weld PlasticWeld is a hand-mixable epoxy putty stick formulated specifically for bonding and rebuilding plastic components. You cut off the amount you need, knead it by hand until the two components are fully mixed, and mold it into the repair area.

Once mixed, you get a 20 to 25 minute working window to shape and position the putty before it starts to set. Functional cure happens in two to three hours, at which point the repair reaches 350 PSI tensile strength and can handle temperatures up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. After curing, PlasticWeld can be sanded smooth, drilled, carved, and painted, so you can finish the repair to match the surrounding surface. It cures to an off-white color.

One limitation to be aware of: PlasticWeld does not adhere to polyethylene or polypropylene, which are the plastics stamped with recycling codes 2, 4, and 5. Bumper covers, fender liners, and many under-hood reservoirs are commonly made from these materials, so check the part's recycling stamp before relying on this product for that repair.
