Swirl marks and light spider webbing in your clear coat are usually the result of improper washing or using the wrong towels, and they show up most in direct sunlight. Meguiar's SwirlX is a finishing product specifically made to smooth away those micro-fine scratches without cutting aggressively into the paint. It works on both clear coat and single-stage paint finishes.

You can apply SwirlX by hand with a foam applicator pad or use a dual-action polisher for faster, more consistent results. By hand, expect to make a few passes per panel to see the swirls diminish. With a DA polisher, users report noticeably better results at medium speed settings. The formula is non-abrasive in the traditional sense, relying on Meguiar's micro-abrasive technology to level the surface gently rather than removing material aggressively. Once buffed off, the finish should show clearer reflections and less haze under direct light.

SwirlX works best as a standalone step after washing and claying, and before applying a wax or sealant. If you have deeper scratches beyond surface-level swirls, you may need to start with a compound like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and then follow up with SwirlX to refine the finish.
