3M Headlight Lens Restoration System

Yellowed, hazy headlights cut your visibility at night and make any car look older than it is. 3M's Headlight Lens Restoration System brings those lenses back to clear using a four-step process that progressively refines the surface from coarse sanding to a final polish.

Inside the kit you get P500 grit yellow sanding discs (six of them), P800 grit white sanding discs (four), one P3000 Trizact foam disc for fine finishing, a disc pad holder, a soft interface pad, an orange foam compounding pad, and a 1 oz sample of 3M headlight lens polish. Each kit contains enough material to restore two headlight lenses. You will need a drill to power the pads — that is not included.

3M's Trizact abrasive technology is what makes this kit effective. The abrasive structure is fine enough to sand across plastic lenses without creating deep scratches, gradually leveling out the oxidized surface layer. After sanding through three grits, the compounding pad and polish bring the lens back to optical clarity. Mask off the surrounding paint before you start, since the sanding discs will damage painted surfaces.
