3M Do-It-Yourself Windshield Repair Kit

A rock chip in the windshield can spread into a full crack if you leave it alone, especially in cold weather or after hitting a bump. 3M's Windshield Repair Kit lets you fill that damage before it gets worse, using a clear glass resin that bonds into the break and restores structural integrity to the area.

Inside the kit you get a bridge assembly with two suction cups, a resin chamber, glass repair resin, an injector O-ring, a stick pin for clearing debris from the chip, clear plastic film, a scraping blade, Phillips head screws, a dropper, and an alcohol wipe. The resin goes in through the bridge assembly, which creates a vacuum to pull the resin deep into the break. After filling, sunlight cures the resin — 30 minutes in direct sun, longer on cloudy days or tinted glass. A UV light works as an alternative.

This kit handles bull's eyes, spider web cracks, star damage, and some combination breaks smaller than 1 inch in diameter. It will not fix long running cracks or damage larger than an inch. You will need safety glasses, a Phillips screwdriver, paper towels, and rubber gloves — those are not included.
