Worn-out head bolts can cause head gasket leaks, especially in high-performance or modified Subaru EJ20 and EJ25 engines. This ARP 260-4701 head stud kit is a direct fix. It uses stronger studs to keep the cylinder heads sealed tight against the engine block, even with increased boost or cylinder pressures.
ARP studs are made from their proprietary 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated to a tensile strength of 200,000 psi. They are centerless ground for a perfect concentricity and then heat-treated again to relieve stress. This process ensures the studs are strong and consistent.
