Worn-out head bolts cause leaks. This ARP head stud kit is a direct fix for your 1987-1992 VW Golf and Jetta 1.8L and 2.0L 16V engines. ARP studs are stronger than stock bolts, helping to keep your cylinder head sealed under higher pressure or temperature conditions.
These studs are made from ARP's proprietary 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated to 200,000 psi tensile strength. The threads are rolled after heat treatment for improved fatigue life. They are also undercut, meaning the diameter under the threads is reduced, which helps reduce stress concentration.
