The AST 5100 series uses a monotube damper design. This means a larger piston inside controls the rebound damping, giving you more precise adjustments. Monotube dampers also prevent air from mixing with the oil, so the valving stays responsive even when pushed hard. You can adjust both the rebound (how fast the shock returns) and the ride height.
