The 845 Insulator Wax is a carnauba and synthetic blend in a liquid-gel consistency that goes on easily and does not require heavy buffing to bring up a shine. It was originally developed for electric utility companies to protect porcelain insulators against power failures in harsh weather, so durability is built into the formula. On automotive paint, expect 4 to 7 months of protection per application depending on conditions. It is clear-coat safe with no abrasives, so it protects without cutting into the finish. One 16-ounce bottle covers roughly 12 to 24 mid-sized vehicles depending on the condition of the paint.

The 850 Metal Wax handles everything the 845 does not: chrome, aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel. It cleans and protects metal surfaces in one step, so bumpers, exhaust tips, and trim pieces get the same level of care as the painted panels. Together, the two products cover the entire exterior.
