This is a Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket for 1968 and later Volvo B20A, B20E, and B20F engines. It's designed with a 92mm bore and a compressed thickness of 0.045 inches, fitting a range of Volvo models including the 142, 144, and 1800. This gasket is built to handle the demands of higher output engines and is suitable for use with both aluminum and cast iron blocks.
The gasket is constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel for increased strength and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are coated with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material that can handle temperatures up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit (250 C). This coating ensures a strong seal even under harsh conditions and on various surface finishes, and the gasket doesn't require any additional sealants for installation. The center layer is stainless steel and can be varied to achieve different thicknesses.
