This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer coating of Viton rubber. With a compressed operating thickness of 0.060 inches and an 85mm bore, it's specifically made for the M42B18 and M44B19 engines found in your 1991-1998 BMW 318i, 318is, 318ti, and 1996-1998 Z3 models.

The multi-layer steel construction offers increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the embossed layers and Viton coating provide maximum sealing performance. This design is ideal for sealing between aluminum heads and either aluminum or cast iron blocks, as it can handle the shearing forces that can occur between dissimilar metals.
