This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with embossed outer layers coated in Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material rated up to 482°F. This design helps ensure a strong seal between the cylinder head and the engine block, even with aluminum heads and cast iron blocks, by accommodating the shearing forces that can occur between dissimilar metals.
