This is a Cometic intake manifold gasket set for Chevrolet Gen-1 Small Block V8 engines. It's designed to seal the intake manifold to the cylinder heads, ensuring that the air-fuel mixture gets into the combustion chambers without leaks. This set fits a wide variety of vehicles, including many Chevrolet C/K series trucks, Camaros, Corvettes, and El Caminos from the early 80s, as well as some Buick and GMC models.
The gaskets are made from AFM material, which is a chemically blown, compounded nitrile synthetic rubber bonded to an aluminum core. This material is good for temperatures over 250°F and has 85 percent recovery, meaning it can compress and maintain a strong seal even under torque. Because of this material's properties, you won't need to use gasket sealers or re-torque the manifold after installation, which can simplify the job.
