This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with a compressed operating thickness of 0.045 inches and a 4.060-inch bore, designed specifically for Chevy Gen-1 Small Block V8 engines, accommodating both 18 and 23-degree cylinder heads. The multi-layer stainless steel construction offers increased strength and resilience, while the outer layers are coated with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material capable of withstanding temperatures up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes the gasket ideal for sealing aluminum heads to aluminum blocks, or aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as it can handle the shearing forces created between dissimilar metals.
