This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring a Viton rubber coating on the outer layers. With a compressed operating thickness of 0.092 inches and a bore size of 4.165 inches, it’s designed for Chevrolet Gen-1 Small Block V8 engines. The inclusion of all steam holes helps manage heat effectively, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles from 1980 to 1986, including models like the Chevrolet C10 and GMC C1500.

The MLS construction offers increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the stainless steel layers provide rebound capability. The Viton coating on the outer layers is heat resistant up to 482°F (250°C) and is engineered to handle harsh sealing environments, various load conditions, and different surface finishes. This design means the gasket requires no additional sealants, simplifying installation and ensuring a reliable seal between aluminum and cast iron blocks, or between two aluminum components. The center shim layer is stainless steel and can be varied to achieve different thickness requirements.
