This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed stainless steel layers, featuring a Viton rubber coating on the outer surfaces. With a compressed operating thickness of 0.036 inches and a 4.100-inch bore, it’s designed for high-output engines like the Chrysler 392 FirePower. MLS gaskets are ideal for sealing between aluminum heads and either aluminum or cast iron blocks, as they can handle the shearing forces that arise from the different expansion rates of these materials. The stainless steel construction offers increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the Viton coating is heat-resistant up to 482°F (250°C) and handles harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and various surface finishes.
