This Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket from Cometic is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer coating of Viton rubber. This construction is designed to handle the high output engines found in the 1992-2002 Dodge Viper, providing maximum sealing performance without needing additional sealants. The stainless steel layers offer increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the Viton coating is heat resistant up to 482°F (250°C), making it suitable for demanding sealing environments.

The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, allowing for varied thickness requirements, and in this case, it's set at a compressed operating thickness of 0.036 inches with a 0.080-inch overall gasket thickness.
