This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer layer coated with Viton rubber. This construction is designed to handle the high output of engines like the Ford Boss 302, offering a compressed operating thickness of 0.036 inches. MLS gaskets are ideal for sealing aluminum heads to either aluminum or cast iron blocks, effectively managing the shearing forces that can occur between dissimilar metals.

The stainless steel layers provide increased strength and resilience, helping to resist corrosion and maintain sealing performance over time. The Viton coating on the outer layers is a heat-resistant material capable of withstanding temperatures up to 482°F (250°C), making it suitable for demanding sealing environments and various surface finishes.
