This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer coating of Viton rubber. This construction is designed to handle the high output demands of engines like the Ford Boss 302, providing a strong seal without the need for additional sealants. The Viton coating is heat resistant up to 482 F, making it suitable for harsh sealing environments and various surface finishes.
The center layer of stainless steel can be varied to achieve different compressed thicknesses, and in this case, it results in a compressed operating thickness of 0.036 inches.
