Starting with a compressed operating thickness of 0.120 inches, these Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets are built to handle the demands of high-output GM LS Gen-3 and Gen-4 V8 engines. They are constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel, which gives them increased strength and the ability to rebound, helping to resist corrosion and maintain a strong seal. The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material rated up to 482°F (250°C), designed to work effectively in harsh sealing environments and on various surface finishes.

This design makes them suitable for use with both aluminum heads on aluminum blocks and aluminum heads on cast iron blocks, as they can manage the shearing forces that can occur between different metals.
