This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring a Viton rubber coating on the outer layers. With a compressed thickness of 0.060 inches and a 4.500-inch bore, it’s designed for GM and Mercury Marine 1050 Gen-IV Big Block V8 applications.

MLS gaskets are a solid choice for high-output engines because they offer maximum sealing performance without needing additional sealants. They work well with both aluminum heads to aluminum blocks and aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, handling the shearing forces that can occur between different metals. The stainless steel construction provides increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the Viton coating on the outer layers can handle temperatures up to 482°F (250°C), meeting the demands of harsh sealing environments.
