Built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, this Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is designed to handle the demands of high-output Honda engines. The outer layers are coated with Viton, a heat-resistant elastomer that can withstand temperatures up to 482°F (250°C), ensuring a strong seal even in harsh conditions. This gasket is ideal for mating aluminum heads to either aluminum or cast iron blocks, as the multi-layer steel construction can manage the shearing forces that arise from dissimilar metals.

The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel and can be varied to achieve different thicknesses, with this particular gasket having a compressed operating thickness of 0.045 inches. This construction not only adds strength but also allows the gasket to rebound and resist corrosion. Because it's an MLS design, it doesn't require any additional sealants, simplifying installation.
