This gasket uses multiple layers of stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance. The outer layers are embossed and coated with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material that can handle temperatures up to 482°F (250°C). This construction is suitable for mating aluminum heads to aluminum blocks or aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as it can manage the shearing forces between different metals.
