This gasket is built with multiple layers of stainless steel, which gives it increased strength and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are coated with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material that can handle tough sealing environments and varying surface finishes. The center layer is stainless steel and can be varied in thickness; in this case, it's set to provide a compressed operating thickness of 0.098 inches, and it's 0.060 inches thick before compression with a 93mm bore. Because it's an MLS gasket, it doesn't require any additional sealants and works well with both aluminum and cast iron blocks.
