Starting with a .092 inch compressed operating thickness, this Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built for the left side of your 1990-2000 Lexus LS400 with the 4.0L V8 engine. MLS gaskets are a smart choice for engines with aluminum heads and either aluminum or cast iron blocks because they can handle the different expansion rates between those materials. This design helps prevent shearing forces from damaging the seal.
The strength of this gasket comes from its multiple layers of stainless steel, which also allow it to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material rated up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit.
