This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer coating of Viton rubber. The compressed operating thickness measures 0.040 inches, making it a solid choice for rebuilding or replacing the head gasket on your 1990-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse, or compatible Galant and Lancer models through EVO3. MLS gaskets are well-suited for sealing aluminum heads to aluminum blocks, or aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as they can handle the shearing forces that arise from the different expansion rates of these metals.

The strength of these MLS gaskets comes from their layered stainless steel construction, which also helps them resist corrosion and maintain their shape. The outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a heat-resistant elastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 482°F (250°C).
