This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with an 87mm bore and a .027 inch thickness, designed to handle the demands of high-output engines. The multiple stainless steel layers provide increased strength and resistance to corrosion, while the outer layers are coated with Viton, a heat-resistant rubber material that can withstand temperatures up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit. This construction makes it suitable for sealing between aluminum and cast iron blocks, and it doesn't require any additional sealants for installation.
The center layer of stainless steel can be varied to achieve different thicknesses, and in this case, it's set to a compressed operating thickness of .036 inches. The Viton coating on the embossed outer layers is engineered to perform well in harsh sealing environments and under various load conditions. This gasket is a solid option for rebuilding or upgrading the top end of your Subaru, ensuring a reliable seal.
