This Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket is built with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, featuring an outer layer coated with Viton rubber. With a compressed operating thickness of 0.036 inches and a 91mm bore, it’s designed to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines, and it doesn't require any additional sealants.
MLS gaskets are a solid choice for sealing aluminum heads to either aluminum or cast iron blocks because they can handle the shearing forces that can occur between different metals. The multiple stainless steel layers give these gaskets increased strength and also help them resist corrosion and maintain their shape. The Viton coating on the outer layers is a heat-resistant material, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 482°F (250°C), making it suitable for demanding sealing environments and various surface finishes.
