It features multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, with the outer layers coated in heat-resistant Viton rubber. This construction is ideal for sealing aluminum heads to aluminum blocks, or aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as it can handle the shearing forces that can occur between different metals. The multiple stainless steel layers provide increased strength and the ability to rebound, while also resisting corrosion. The Viton coating on the outer layers is designed to perform in harsh sealing environments and varying load conditions, with a heat resistance up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit.
