COMP Cams Cam & Lifter Kit CS 291T HR-7

This is the COMP Cams CS 291T HR-7 hydraulic roller camshaft and lifter kit, designed for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines. It's built for high-performance street and strip applications, and you can expect a rough idle with this setup. To get the most out of this cam, you'll need at least 9:1 compression, a 2500+ RPM stall torque converter, and supporting modifications like an upgraded intake, rear gears, and headers.

This kit includes the camshaft itself, a set of hydraulic roller lifters, assembly lube to ensure proper break-in, and decals. It's important to note that this cam is intended for engines with flat tappet camshafts. While GM started phasing in roller camshafts in the mid-80s, many trucks and SUVs continued to use flat tappet designs into the mid-90s. You'll need to remove the intake manifold or timing cover to confirm if your specific engine is a factory roller or flat tappet design. This kit does not fit LT1/LT4 engines or any LS-based V8s.

For 1955-1957 Chevrolet 265 engines, a groove on the 5th cam journal is required for proper oiling; contact COMP Cams for more information if this applies to your build. This kit is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
