This COMP Cams kit gives you everything you need to upgrade your Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engine's camshaft and valvetrain. Inside the box, you'll find the CS 292XFI HR hydraulic roller camshaft, a set of matching hydraulic roller lifters, assembly lube to get everything started right, and decals for your engine bay. This kit is designed for street/strip applications and really shines when the throttle is wide open.

The XFI 242/248 hydraulic roller camshaft is built for performance, especially at higher RPMs. To get the most out of this cam, it's recommended to have supporting modifications like a torque converter rated for 2600 RPM or higher, and a compression ratio around 9.5:1. This setup is ideal for those looking to maximize power output for racing or spirited driving, but remember it's best suited for wide-open throttle conditions.

It's important to note that this kit is intended for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines that originally came with a flat tappet camshaft. While GM started phasing in roller camshafts in the mid-80s, many trucks and SUVs continued to use flat tappet designs well into the 90s. You'll need to remove the intake manifold or timing cover to confirm if your engine block is factory roller or flat tappet before installation. This kit does not fit LT1/LT4 or any LS-based engines.
