Product Details

This is the COMP Cams XR292 R-10 solid roller camshaft, part number 11-773-8, designed for Chevrolet Big Block engines like the 396, 427, and 454. It's a popular choice for Pro Street applications where significant performance gains are desired, fitting a wide range of vehicles including the Chevrolet Impala, Chevelle, and Corvette from the late 60s through the mid-70s, as well as later C-series trucks and SUVs originally equipped with flat tappet camshafts.

The XR292 R-10 is built for serious performance, featuring a 254/260 degree duration at .050 inch lift and a .620 inch lift. To get the most out of this camshaft, you'll need a well-matched intake and exhaust system, at least 11:1 compression, and a torque converter with a stall speed of 3500 RPM or higher. It's important to note that this camshaft is optimized for use with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear. Using cast iron or steel gears without these surface treatments can void your warranty and cause premature wear.

When installing this camshaft, be aware that some early 1965-66 396 Big Block models have an oiling groove in the rear journal that this specific camshaft does not accommodate. If your engine falls into that specific early range and requires that groove, you'll need to contact COMP Cams directly for a different option. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
