COMP Cams Camshaft CBVI XR288HR-10

This COMP Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft kit includes the CBVI XR288HR-10 hydraulic roller camshaft. It's designed for street and strip applications, specifically for Chevrolet Big Block GEN VI engines like those found in the 1996-2000 C/K series trucks and Express/Savana vans. This camshaft is a significant upgrade for engines with 10:1 or higher compression ratios and requires a torque converter with at least a 2800 RPM stall speed to perform optimally.

The XR288HR-10 features a 236-degree intake duration and 242-degree exhaust duration at .050-inch lift, with .552-inch intake and .552-inch exhaust lift. These specifications are chosen to provide a noticeable increase in power and torque, especially in the mid-to-upper RPM range, making it well-suited for performance-oriented builds. Expect a rough idle characteristic with this camshaft, which is typical for aggressive street/strip grinds. To get the most out of this cam, it's recommended to pair it with a high-flow intake manifold and performance headers to ensure adequate airflow.
