Product Details
This COMP Cams XFI camshaft is designed for Chevrolet Small Block engines, covering a wide range of displacements from 262 to 400 cubic inches. It's a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, meaning it uses traditional lifters and is well-suited for engines originally equipped with them, including many trucks and SUVs from the mid-80s through the mid-90s. This camshaft is a solid option if you're looking to build a crossfire or carbureted engine that needs a good amount of torque.
The Xtreme Energy XFI series lobes are updated with more lift on the intake side and improved area under the curve on the exhaust side compared to the base Xtreme series. This design helps with better exhaust flow and overall performance. COMP Cams specifically designed these lobes to work with their Beehive valve springs, like the #26915, #26918, and #26120, and when paired with their Ultra Pro Magnum rocker arms, it represents a significant improvement for hydraulic flat tappet camshaft technology, bringing race-winning advancements to street applications.
It's important to confirm your specific engine block's lifter setup before installation, as GM gradually transitioned to roller camshafts starting in the mid-80s. If your block has provisions for roller lifters and you desire a roller cam, COMP Cams offers specific kits and roller camshafts for those applications. This camshaft is not compatible with LT1/LT4 engines or factory roller small blocks from 1985 and newer.
