Product Details

This is the COMP Cams CS 280A-R10 Magnum solid roller camshaft, designed for Chevrolet Small Block Gen 1 engines. It's built for street/strip performance, offering a noticeable bump in power and a more aggressive, choppy idle. This camshaft is a popular choice for enthusiasts looking to extract more performance from their classic Chevy V8, fitting a wide range of applications like the Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and C10 trucks from various years.

The CS 280A-R10 features a 236-degree intake and 236-degree exhaust duration at .050-inch lift, making it a strong performer for engines with around 9.5:1 compression. To get the most out of this camshaft and ensure proper operation, it's optimized for use with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear. Using cast or steel gears without these surface treatments can lead to premature wear and will void the warranty. You'll also want to pair this with a distributor gear that can handle the increased lift and duration, and a stall converter of 2500 RPM or higher is recommended for optimal street performance, along with headers.

It's important to note that this camshaft is not compatible with factory roller camshafts found in 1985 and newer Small Blocks, nor is it for LS-based engines. Also, 1955-1957 models with a rear journal oiling groove will require a different camshaft; please contact us if you have one of these specific early engines. This part is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
