This is the COMP Cams CS 287Crl R7 Open Mo solid roller camshaft, specifically designed for Small Block Chevrolet (SBC) engines. It's built for applications like 1/3 to 1/2 mile tracks with tight corners or heavy surfaces, often found in modified racing setups. This camshaft is intended for engines with a displacement between 327 and 358 cubic inches, running 11:1 compression, and utilizing a 2- or 4-barrel carburetor, whether running on gasoline or alcohol.

The design of this camshaft is optimized to work with flat tappet-appearing Beehive valve springs, offering a unique combination of performance and compatibility. It's important to note that this camshaft is for engines that originally used a flat tappet camshaft. GM vehicles gradually transitioned to roller camshafts starting in the mid-1980s, with trucks and SUVs often retaining flat tappet designs into the mid-1990s. To confirm your engine's configuration, you may need to remove the intake manifold or timing cover to check if it's a factory roller or flat tappet block. This camshaft is not compatible with LT1/LT4 engines or factory roller small blocks from 1985 and newer, nor is it for LS-based engines.

This camshaft fits a wide range of Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and AM General vehicles from the 1980s and 1990s, including popular models like the Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, Caprice, and C/K series trucks.
