Product Details

This COMP Cams CS 292A-R6 Solid Roller Camshaft is designed for Chevrolet Small Block engines, fitting a wide range of vehicles from 1980 through 1996, including models like the Chevrolet C1500, Buick Roadmaster, and Cadillac Fleetwood. It's specifically tuned for oval track racing on 1/4 to 3/8 mile tracks with tight corners, offering improved performance for those demanding conditions. This camshaft is a solid roller type, meaning it uses roller lifters to reduce friction and allow for more aggressive lobe profiles compared to flat tappet designs.

The CS 292A-R6 features a 256-degree intake duration and a 258-degree exhaust duration, with a .574-inch intake lift and .574-inch exhaust lift. It's built to work with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear; using cast iron or steel gears without these surface treatments will void the warranty. This camshaft is intended for engines that originally came with flat tappet camshafts, and it's important to verify your engine's configuration, as factory roller camshafts were gradually introduced from the mid-80s onward. Early 1955-1957 Chevrolet engines require a specific oiling groove on the rear journal, which this particular part number does not have.

When installing this camshaft, it's crucial to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding distributor gear type to ensure proper function and warranty coverage. This part is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California. It's a performance-oriented component for specific racing applications, so ensure it aligns with your vehicle's intended use and local regulations.
