COMP Cams Camshaft CS 304H-R10

This COMP Cams CS 304H-R10 camshaft kit includes the camshaft itself. It's designed for Chevrolet Small Block engines, covering a wide range of displacements from 262 to 400 cubic inches, and fits many vehicles from 1958 through 2002, including popular models like the Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and C10 trucks. This camshaft is intended for street/strip applications where a noticeable, rough idle is desired for performance. It's a hydraulic roller design, offering improved performance over flat tappet cams.

To get the most out of this camshaft, you'll need to pair it with specific supporting modifications. COMP Cams recommends a torque converter with a 3000+ RPM stall speed, a rear gear ratio of 3.90 or lower, an aftermarket intake manifold, and headers. It's also crucial to use a high-pressure, high-volume fuel pump with a bronze-tipped pushrod, and aftermarket valve springs are required. For proper operation and to maintain warranty, a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear is essential; cast or steel gears without similar surface treatments are not compatible and will void the warranty. Additionally, this camshaft requires a thrust button and wear plate, often integrated into aftermarket timing covers.

When installing this camshaft, be aware that it's optimized for specific engine configurations. If your '87+ block has provisions for roller lifters but doesn't have them installed, you'll need a COMP Hydraulic Roller Lifter Install Kit. For pre-'87 blocks, Retro-Fit Link Bar Hydraulic Roller Lifters are necessary.
