This CS 312R-8 camshaft is a solid roller type designed for Chevrolet Small Block engines, specifically those built for drag racing. It's optimized for larger displacement engines, like 400+ cubic inch builds, when paired with good cylinder heads and high compression.

This camshaft features a .900-inch base circle, which is important for clearance in certain engine builds. The grind is 279 degrees of duration on the intake side and 286 on the exhaust side, with a solid roller design that allows for more aggressive valve lift and faster ramp rates compared to flat tappet cams. This translates to better airflow and more power at higher RPMs. It's important to note that this camshaft is optimized for use with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear. Using cast or steel gears without similar surface treatments will void the warranty.

This camshaft fits a wide range of Chevrolet Small Block engines, including popular displacements like the 350 and 400 cubic inch variants found in vehicles such as the Chevrolet C10, Camaro, and Caprice. However, it does not fit LT1/LT4 engines or factory roller small blocks from 1985 and newer, nor does it fit any LS-based engines. For 1955-1957 Chevrolet 265 engines, a specific oiling groove is required on the rear journal; if your engine needs this, you'll need to contact us for a special order. Ensure you confirm your block type (factory roller or flat tappet) by removing the intake or timing cover before installation.
