COMP Cams Camshaft CS 317D-R6

This COMP Cams CS 317D-R6 Solid Roller Camshaft is built for Chevrolet Small Block Gen 1 engines, specifically designed for drag racing applications. It features a 280/292 degree duration split and is a solid roller type, meaning it uses roller lifters for reduced friction and improved performance compared to flat tappet designs. This camshaft is intended for builders looking to extract maximum power from their engine, particularly in a drag strip environment.

The camshaft is optimized for use with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear. Using cast iron or steel distributor gears without these surface treatments can lead to premature wear and will void the warranty. It's important to confirm your engine's original configuration, as factory roller camshafts were gradually introduced in Small Blocks from the mid-80s onward. For 1955-1957 Chevrolet engines, a specific oiling groove is required on the rear journal; if your block needs this, you'll need to contact us for a special order.

This camshaft fits a wide range of Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Blocks, including popular displacements like the 262, 283, 305, 350, and 400 cubic inch engines. It is not compatible with LT1/LT4 engines or factory roller Small Blocks from 1985 and newer. Ensure you verify your block's configuration by removing the intake or timing cover if you're unsure about its original setup. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
