This COMP Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft is built for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines, offering a noticeable bump in performance for street and strip use. While it provides gains, it's designed to maintain adequate vacuum for accessories like power brakes, making it a solid option for builds that still need to function on the street. This camshaft is particularly well-suited for carbureted applications, especially when paired with aftermarket intake manifolds, lower gear ratios, headers, and a free-flowing exhaust system. The XS282S-10 is a solid flat tappet camshaft with a 244/252 degree duration and .477/.477 lift. It's recommended for engines with a 2800+ stall speed and works well in oval track racing applications that have vacuum rules. It's important to note that this camshaft does not fit LT1/LT4 engines or factory roller small blocks from 1985 and newer, as GM gradually introduced roller camshafts into many engines during the mid-80s and beyond. You may need to remove the intake or timing cover to confirm if your block is a factory roller or flat tappet. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
