Product Details
This COMP Cams CS X4 250H-11 camshaft is a hydraulic flat tappet grind designed for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines. It's built to deliver a very strong torque curve, which is great for applications like 4x4 trucks, while also aiming for excellent mileage and a smooth idle. This camshaft is a popular choice for rebuilding or upgrading a wide range of classic Chevy V8s, including popular displacements like the 350, 327, and 283.
The Xtreme 4x4 series camshafts are known for their solid torque output, making them well-suited for vehicles that need pulling power. The 206/214 degree intake/exhaust duration at .050 lift is a common specification for a camshaft that provides a noticeable improvement over stock without being overly aggressive. This means you get improved performance and a noticeable rumble at idle, but it should still be comfortable for daily driving in many applications. It's important to confirm your specific engine uses a flat tappet setup, as many later model Small Blocks from 1985 onward transitioned to factory roller camshafts.
When installing this camshaft, ensure you have the proper break-in procedure and oil for flat tappet camshafts to prevent premature wear. You'll also want to check your engine's specific requirements, especially for earlier 265 cubic inch engines from 1955-1957, which may need an oiling groove on the fifth journal. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
