This COMP Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft is designed for Chevrolet Gen 1 Small Block engines. You get the camshaft itself, ready to be installed in your engine. This camshaft features a quicker valve opening profile, which means more area under the lift curve compared to older camshaft designs. This translates to increased responsiveness and noticeable gains in both torque and horsepower without sacrificing everyday drivability.
The Xtreme Energy grind family is engineered to boost performance while maintaining adequate vacuum for essential accessories like power brakes. While it works well in carbureted setups, you'll see the best performance gains when paired with aftermarket intake manifolds, lower gear ratios, headers, and a free-flowing exhaust system. This camshaft is a solid option for many carbureted applications, including throttle body injection, crossfire, and 305 TPI engines.
It's important to verify your specific engine's configuration. This camshaft is intended for flat tappet engines and does not fit factory roller small blocks built from 1985 and newer, or LT1/LT4 engines. For 1955-1957 Chevrolet 265 engines, a groove on the 5th cam journal is required for proper oiling.
