This is the COMP Cams CS XR274 R-10 solid roller camshaft, designed for Chevrolet Small Block GEN 1 engines. It's built for power touring applications, offering a significant bump in performance for engines like the 350, 400, and others in that family. This camshaft is intended for builds where you're looking for a noticeable increase in horsepower and torque, especially at higher RPMs, and it works well with a 2500+ stall torque converter.

To get the most out of this camshaft and ensure its longevity, it's crucial to use it with a Melanized or Nitrided distributor gear. Using cast iron or steel gears without these surface treatments can lead to premature wear and will void the warranty. The XR274 R-10 is engineered for a rough idle, which is typical for a solid roller camshaft of this aggressive profile, and it's known for being relatively easy on other engine components when paired correctly. This camshaft fits a wide range of Chevrolet Small Block GEN 1 engines, including popular displacements like the 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, and 400, but be aware it does not fit LT1/LT4 or factory roller blocks from 1985 and newer, or LS-based engines.

When installing this camshaft, remember that 1955-1957 models require a specific oiling groove on the rear journal; if your engine falls into this category, you'll need to contact us for a special order. Also, verify your block is a flat tappet design by checking the intake or timing cover, as factory roller blocks from 1985 onward are not compatible. This camshaft is not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
