This COMP Cams Big Mutha' Thumpr camshaft kit includes a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, lifters, valve springs, retainers, and locks. It's designed for Chevrolet Small Block engines, specifically the GEN 1 variants from 262 to 400 cubic inches, found in a wide range of vehicles like the Chevrolet C10, Camaro, and Buick Roadmaster. This kit is intended for street and strip applications where a very rough idle is acceptable and desired for a performance look and sound.

To get the most out of this camshaft, your engine will need at least 9.5:1 compression, a 2800+ RPM stall speed torque converter if you have an automatic transmission, a performance intake manifold, and headers. The camshaft itself has a 243-degree intake duration and a 257-degree exhaust duration, with a .558-inch intake lift and a .572-inch exhaust lift. These specifications indicate a significant performance upgrade over stock, aimed at maximizing power in the mid to upper RPM range.

It's important to note that this kit is designed for older, non-roller small block Chevrolet engines. If your engine was built from 1985 or later, it may have a factory roller camshaft setup, and this kit will not be compatible. You'll need to inspect your engine, potentially by removing the intake manifold or timing cover, to confirm whether you have a flat tappet or roller camshaft.
