When you're building a racing engine that's going to see serious RPMs, standard shims just won't cut it under extreme spring pressures. COMP Cams has a straightforward fix with this ID Spring Seat. It's a thin, hardened steel alloy seat designed to protect both your cylinder head and the shim underneath it, while also keeping the valve spring properly located and held in place.
This particular locator uses an inboard locating shoulder, meaning the centering and spring-holding feature is on the inside. This design avoids the need for extensive machining on the cylinder head that older-style cups required. The 4869-1 features a 1.350-inch outer diameter and a .515-inch inner diameter, with a thickness of .130 inches, making it a solid option for many performance builds.
