If you're building a race engine that's going to see serious RPMs, you know that standard shims can't handle the extreme spring pressures. COMP Cams has a straightforward fix with these ID Spring Locators. They offer a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that does more than just protect your cylinder head and shim; it also keeps the valve spring centered and securely in place.
Unlike older designs that required extensive machining to fit an outer cup, these locators feature an inboard locating shoulder. This design centers the seat and holds the spring from the inside. The 1.500-inch outer diameter and .585-inch inner diameter work well with several popular COMP Cams dual valve springs, like their 985, 978, 924, and 939 series.
