If you're rebuilding the top end of an engine that's going to see serious RPMs, you need to make sure your valve springs are properly seated. Standard shims just won't hold up under the extreme pressures and high rotations found in performance builds. COMP Cams offers a straightforward solution with these ID Spring Locators.
These aren't just simple shims; they're thin, hardened steel alloy seats designed to protect both the cylinder head and the shim underneath. More importantly, they actively locate and hold the valve spring in its correct position. Unlike older designs that required extensive machining to fit an external cup, COMP Cams' ID locator features an internal locating shoulder and spring cup, making installation much simpler.
This particular locator has a 1.540-inch outer diameter and a .640-inch inner diameter, making it a good match for COMP Cams' 26089, 955, and 943 dual valve springs.
