Product Details
You get one ID Spring Seat from COMP Cams, part number 4714-1. This part is designed to work with today's high-RPM race engines where standard shims might not hold up to the extreme spring pressures. It acts as a hardened steel alloy seat that protects both the cylinder head and the shim underneath it. More than just protection, it also helps to properly locate and hold the valve spring in place.
This particular locator uses an inboard locating shoulder, meaning the shoulder that centers the seat and holds the spring is on the inside of the part. This design avoids the need for extensive machining on the cylinder head that older, outboard-style locators required. It's made from hardened steel for durability and features a 1.600-inch outer diameter and a .570-inch inner diameter. COMP Cams notes that this size works well with their 951 dual valve springs.
