With today's race engines pushing extreme spring pressures and high RPMs, standard shims just won't hold up. COMP Cams offers a straightforward fix with these ID Spring Locators. They provide a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that does more than just protect the head and shim; it also precisely locates and holds the valve spring in its proper position.
Unlike older designs that required significant head machining to accommodate an external retaining cup, COMP's new ID locator features a locating shoulder on the inside, along with the spring cup. This design makes installation much simpler. Made from hardened steel, this locator uses an inboard locating shoulder to center the seat and keep the spring stable. The 4774 features a 1.625" OD and a .570" ID, making it a good match for COMP Cams dual valve springs like the 996, 998, 26099, and 991.
