When you're building a racing engine that's going to see serious RPMs, standard shims just won't cut it anymore. The extreme spring pressures can cause them to fail. COMP Cams has a well-built solution with these ID spring seats. They're a thin, hardened steel alloy seat that does more than just protect your cylinder head and shim; it also helps center and hold the valve spring exactly where it needs to be.
Unlike older designs that required significant machining to fit, these ID locators have the locating shoulder on the inside. This means they center the spring from the inside diameter, making installation simpler. This particular set, the 4868, features a 1.350-inch outside diameter and a .515-inch inside diameter, with a .050-inch thickness. They are made from hardened steel to stand up to the demands of high-performance engines.
